Description of the missing person
Ali was a twenty-five-year-old husband and a father to a two-month-old child. He enjoyed swimming and sports in general. He also loved listening to music, and he was especially fond of the singers Umm Kulthum and Abdel Halim Hafez. He dreamed of buying his own home to secure a stable and decent life for his family.
Circumstances of the Disappearance
The Black Saturday incident in 1975 and its expansion towards the port of Beirut forced many workers to escape to a safe place to save their lives. Some of them could only escape by swimming in the sea. Ali’s sister-in-law tried to convince him to do this but he wanted to fetch some clothes from his room before fleeing, as he was wearing his work clothes. He disappeared at that point and nobody has seen him since.
